Basking Ridge, NJ —October 22, 2026— Waypoint Underwriting Management, a division of Brown & Brown, today announced the launch of its treaty reinsurance underwriting partnership with Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Company (“Hyundai”). Under a Reinsurance Intermediary Management Agreement effective August 1, 2026, Waypoint is authorized to underwrite Property, Casualty and Workers’ Compensation treaty reinsurance business on Hyundai’s behalf.
Hyundai selected Waypoint to support its strategic expansion into the U.S. assumed reinsurance market. The addition of Hyundai further enhances Waypoint’s ability to provide brokers and ceding companies with access to diversified, highly rated reinsurance capacity through a single underwriting relationship. The agreement also builds upon Hyundai’s existing partnership with Brown & Brown, extending that relationship to Waypoint’s specialized U.S. treaty reinsurance underwriting platform.
Hyundai is rated A (Excellent) with a Stable outlook by AM Best, which classifies it as Financial Size Category XV, and A (Stable outlook) by S&P Global Ratings. As of June 30, 2026, Hyundai reported KRW 6.55 trillion (approximately US$4.24 billion) in consolidated shareholders’ equity. AM Best assesses Hyundai’s balance sheet strength as Strong and its risk-adjusted capitalization, as measured by Best’s Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR), at the Strongest level.
“One of Waypoint’s founding principles is to provide brokers and ceding companies with access to multiple sources of high-quality reinsurance capacity through a single, responsive underwriting relationship,” said Matt Campion, President of Waypoint Underwriting Management. “The addition of Hyundai, with its exceptional financial strength, global reputation and long-term commitment to the market, represents another important milestone in delivering on that vision. We are also excited to expand Hyundai’s existing relationship with Brown & Brown while helping support its strategic growth in the U.S. assumed reinsurance market.”
The agreement further strengthens Waypoint’s position as a differentiated reinsurance underwriting platform, providing brokers and ceding companies with access to a diversified panel of highly rated capacity providers across Property, Casualty and Workers Compensation treaty lines. Through its centralized underwriting model, Waypoint offers an efficient path to meaningful, diversified capacity supported by experienced underwriting, actuarial, claims and catastrophe modeling resources.
